Some residents of Limuru have called upon all voters not to vote Ruto Rigathi ticket as they recall the files of Gachagua as a DO in Moi’s regime . This comes barely a month after Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua was nominated as Deputy President William Ruto’s running mate in the Aughust 9 general election.
There residents stated that Gachagua met former president Daniel Arap Moi while he was a student leaderat university of Nairobi.. Fortunately, he was tasked by the president to identify student groups that rebelled against Moi’s regime.
After completing his degree studies he was appointed at the civil servant service. He served as a DO in Kakamega , Miolo and Limuru.Howwver the Limuru residents have lamented on the harassment experiences they underwent during Rigathi’s reign in the area being it was mapped as red zone by president Moi. His deployment in the area was to encounter any body that was helping former opposition leader, Keneth Matiba advance his movement against Moi.The residents say they were treated as suspects anytime and the youths in the area could be taken to police station and beaten.Sevsral people were killed and others taken to court with no good reason.
Supporters of Ruto and Gachagua have dismissed the claims as they vocalize that the victims have been paid by there competitors tomame a false confession.
However Rigathi Gachagua has been on record saying, a lot of brutality happened but he was following orders from above
